We Offer a Variety of Barks
What are the benefits of applying bark to my landscape?
Applying a thick layer of decorative bark to your soil surfaces (also called a mulch) does much more than just make your garden look attractive. It helps to retain soil moisture, suppresses weed growth and will gradually improve the structure of your soil.
Bark is used by both gardeners requiring a mulching material as well as by landscapers wishing to add decorative uniformity to large areas of beds, borders and other soil-filled areas.
All of our bark is all natural and derived from fir trees in our local area. No chemicals or dyes are added.
Is Mulch the same as Bark? Yes
Mulch is the term for any organic material used as top dressings on your garden beds. The top dressing could be compost mulch, bark mulch, sawdust, shredded leaves, pine needles, grass clippings, straw hay, etc.
How much beauty bark do I need?
When you purchase bark in bags, the average bag has 2 cubic feet. It takes 13.5 bags to equal 1 cubic yard.
The following scale will help determine your needs:
A 1- to 2-inch layer of fine mulch should be sufficient, while a coarser material l should be 3 to 4 inches deep.
The trick to keeping weeds from growing through your mulch is to put a layer of weed barrier underneath, which we sell in our Showroom!
